Copyright © Richard Lang http://www.AcquiredFreedom.comBeing your own boss is a great experience. It is liberating and it seems like a dream come true for many people. However, being your own boss is also a lot of responsibility and something that some people may struggle with. It takes a special person to be able to stay motivated and focused enough to be their own boss. Fortunately, almost anyone can learn how to be their own boss just by understanding the challenges of the job. Meeting deadlines and getting things done is something that the average worker simply does or they know they will be fired. In the work at home environment, though, the rules may not be as severe. There may not be someone right there saying things need to get done. Clients may not be pushy, but that doesn't mean they are not noticing the lack of professionalism. Being your own boss means being responsible and meeting deadlines. This requires a good schedule and being able to focus and stay on task. It can be hard to not let the independence of the situation take over. A person may just be so happy that they can do what they want to more often that they forget about the work part of working at home. This is where problems happen. Having a good schedule can really help to prevent problems with too much independence. Another problem is that finding a work at home job can sometimes be difficult. It can take time and it is important for a person to not get too frustrated or let the stress get to them. They should stay focused and keep at it. Being professional in all dealings will really go a long way to helping a person secure a work at home position. Persistence is key. A person needs to keep applying and soon they will find the work at home position that works best for them. It doesn't hurt to also network and learn more about all the opportunities out there. Focusing too much on a specific type of job can be a problem, too. Many people are not used to having to sell themselves. In the traditional working environment most people are chosen for a job on the criteria of whether or not they can do the job. In the work at home environment, though, employers want to know they are capable of doing the job and capable of working at home. This involves a person having to sell themselves to the employer so they know they can get the job done. Working at home and being your own boss is a challenge. If it was easy then everyone would be doing it. That is why only some people can make working at home work for them. It is not something for everyone. Being your own boss means being responsible, staying focus, being persuasive and being committed. There really is no room for slacking because that will only cause problems. Being your own boss can be a very rewarding experience, but at the same time it requires a strong will and drive to get those rewards. Copyright © Richard Lang http://www.AcquiredFreedom.comWorking at home requires the ability to work independently and manage time properly. That is why developing a work at home schedule is one of the most important steps in getting a work at home job. Some work at home jobs require a set schedule. Sometimes a company may require set work hours or they may require a person be available to work certain days of the week. When preparing to work at home a person needs to know their schedule of availability. To develop a schedule of availability a person needs to consider all of their commitments. This also includes any housework or errands they may need to do. A schedule should be made out for each day of the week with the times available for work clearly outlined. A person must also consider free time. Many times when working at home a person forgets to schedule time to be off from work, which can lead to problems. It is important to develop a schedule without overloading yourself. It may take some time to figure out a good work at home schedule. It can help to go through a week and mark down any free time. Sometimes a person may not be aware of just how many little blocks of free time they have. It may be possible to organize the day better to free up larger blocks of time for working. Making a schedule will also help a person recognize when they can not work because they are too busy. It may also lead them to see that they can not do some types of scheduled work at home jobs. A person may find that sticking to a strict schedule is not something that will work for them. In this case they will be able to look for a job where they can develop their own schedule or work freely whenever it is convenient for them. A person may also find that they have a large chunk of free time that would be perfect for a work at home job with a strict schedule. It is hard to recognize just how time is used without making up a schedule, which is why making a work at home schedule makes a lot of sense. Developing a work at home schedule is going to get a person prepared when filling out applications and when searching for the right type of work at home job for them. Having a schedule will also help out when telling friends and family when their working hours are so they are not interrupted while working. A work at home schedule will help a person be more professional. It can also help prevent problems down the road with scheduling conflicts. Many people end up getting into a work at home job and then later realize that the schedule does not work for them. This is a very horrible mistake that can ruin your creditability as a good at home worker when other employers find out why you had to quit a previous job. Copyright © Richard Lang http://www.AcquiredFreedom.comEvery business will run into a time where things seem to go into a slump. Business may start to level off and there is a need to pump it up and bring in new customers. That requires appealing to the customer and giving them a reason to start doing business. It can sometimes seem difficult to see how a business can be pumped up to bring in new customers. It may seem too hard or complicated, but there really are some ways to pump up a business without it involving a lot of money or time. Something simple can sometimes bring new life back into a slow business. Add a New Product Many times customers have bought everything they want from a company or feel they just do not need what they are offering. Many companies use the tactic of introducing a new product to help their business. A new product can be something simple or it can be an elaborate new line of products. The whole idea of introducing a new product is to give the customer something new and different. It should not be, for example, an existing product just in a new color. That will not cut it. It should be something exciting and it is a good idea to make a big deal out of its introduction. That will draw attention and keep customers on alert. Revamp the Look Sometimes all it takes is updating a website to bring in more business. This is true if the website has not been updated a lot to offer new options and a new appearance. Sometimes people just get tired of the same old thing when they are shopping and want to experience something different. Changes to a websites look can be a lot of things. It can be different colors, a different set up, addition of a guest book or even a completely new website design. One thing to keep in mind, though, is that with huge changes the website will be down for maintenance however long it takes to get the change implemented. Offer More People want to shop where they can get a lot of things at one stop. This is very true because people do not have the time to go from store to store, even online. One way to really attract people is to offer them more. Give them more variety, more choices and more products. Give them more for their money, too. Create bundled packages and give away freebies to loyal customers. Introduce specials like buy one and get one free. Shipping discounts are quite popular online and are a major attraction for shoppers. Give some thought as to what could be done to give customers more. There are many things a person can do to pump up their business and start bringing in more sales. The worst thing to do is give up or simply sit around and wait for things to get better. A person has to be proactive in their attempts to bring some life back to their business. Copyright © Richard Lang http://www.AcquiredFreedom.comOne of the first things a person must do when they are starting to look for a work at home position is to write a work at home resume. As with any job search, a resume is the tool that is used to sell to potential employers. A person needs their resume to fit the work at home environment, though. It is not a good idea to take a resume meant for a traditional employer and try to use it for work at home job searches. A work at home resume is going to have a different focus then a traditional resume. The work at home employer is not looking for the same things as a traditional employer. The work at home employer wants a person that can handle working at home. Working at home is not something everyone can do and it can be challenging. Employers want to see that a person can handle those challenges. A resume needs to covey to an employer that the person can handle working independently. It should show examples to back up the claims. It should show the person can handle deadlines and getting things done despite the distractions that come with the work at home atmosphere. Something that can help is using past employers who can act as a reference to the fact that home life did not often interfere with work. This is a strong point that will show a person can handle family and working at home with a good balance. The resume should also speak to the job. This is actually something any resume should do, but with online work it is even more important. In general, a person should understand that every job they are trying to get has at least 50 other applicants vying for it. The market is very competitive, so a person has to be focused. The resume should highlight achievements and skills that were specifically mentioned by the employer in their employment ad. Another thing is that part of working at home is running a business. Even if the job is working for an employer, it is still more of a business then any traditional job. That is because most work at home jobs are independent contractor positions. This means there are no guarantees. There are no benefits and the employer has to allow for some flexibility. Having this much independence makes employers weary. A person must show they are professional and not going to be a slacker. The work at home resume is really the sales key. It is the one way to really show an employer what you have to offer. That is why the resume is an important part of working at home. Before a person ever answers an ad or fills out an application they need to have a general resume. The general resume should address the work at home side of things - proving they are responsible and can work independently. The general resume then is changed to tailor it for each employer and each job. The use of a cookie cutter resume is never a good idea. If a person is serious about working at home then they will truly understand the work at home resume. Copyright © Richard Lang http://www.AcquiredFreedom.comNetworking has always been an important aspect of the business world, but in the work at home environment it is essential. In the traditional business world, networking is usually handled higher up in the company and most people just go about their job without giving it a second thought. However, in the work at home environment, networking is the key to success. It does not matter what type of work at home job a person has or is looking for, networking is important. Networking is the only way to find good positions, build business and stay on top. Networking is basically socializing. In the work at home environment it is talking with other people who work at home. This is actually not too difficult because there are plenty of websites dedicated to bring together people who work at home. A web search will yield great results. A person should seek out people who are in the same market as them, doing the same work they are doing or want to do. Many of the work at home websites have message boards that are broken up according to the type of work people do. This makes it pretty simple to meet people. It is important that a person understands the protocol, though, of work at home networking. There are some unwritten 'rules' about networking that a person needs to know or else they could ruin their ability to successfully network. While the internet may seem like a pretty large place, it really is not. It can be surprising how many people know each other and how quick word can travel. It is like a small town in that aspect. That is why a person has to be careful when they are networking. One of the top things is that a person should know they can not just jump in and start bombarding people with questions. It is important to make friends and be a part of the community first. Another thing a person should avoid is being fake. People will quickly catch on and they will not talk with someone who is being fake. Honesty is always best. The biggest problem is going from one board to another and trying to act like a different person at each one. People do not like that and it will be discovered. Lastly, a person needs to know that employers often frequent these places so it is always best to be professional. A person should not say something they would not be proud of or that they wouldn't want an employer to see. Networking can be the key to getting into the work at home world and being a success. It is next to impossible to get into a good work at home position without networking. Networking will also keep a person protected because it is the best way to find scams and avoid problems. Networking can be used to find a job, make friends and get great information. Working at home can be lonely and networking can build up that working environment that is lacking in the work at home workplace. Copyright © Richard Lang http://www.AcquiredFreedom.comIn the online business environment knowing about and understanding search engines is important. Search engines can make or break a business. A home business owner has to be current on the trends and the ways that search engines work in order to stay on top of their business and keep customers coming to their website. Search engines are the tools that get people to websites. They basically rule the internet. Without search engines there would be no organization and no paths to anywhere. The internet would be a mess. However, search engines have faced challenges and they have had to come up with ways to provide people with good information. This has led to some strictness from the search engines and rules that business owners need to know. In the past search engines ranked websites through keyword use. It was not long, though, before website owners found ways to misuse that. People who would do searches were ending up with junk websites at the top of their search results and it was difficult to actual find anything useful. The search engines acted fast, though, and now there are a combination of factors that the search engines now use to rank websites. Here are the three top things used by search engines to rank websites: Keywords: Keywords are still important. It is impossible to get rid of them because keywords are how searches are done and they have to be a part of the search engine rankings for organizational purposes. However, they are not given as much weight as they once were and only make up a small part of how a website is ranked. Content: Now the big factor in search engine ranking is content. Content works well as a factor for ranking websites because it is hard to use junk and it is something that takes time to install onto a website. The criteria for content is that it must be useful, relevant and unique. People can not simply copy content from elsewhere around the web and assume that will work. The search engines are pretty smart about content and that is why it carries the majority of the weight when it comes to search engine ranking. Links: Using links to and from a website that is ranked high on a search engine will make that website higher ranked as well. Search engines consider this because it is a popularity factor. It lets the search engines see who other website owners are happy with being associated with. It is a good idea of what sites are quality and which ones may not be quite so good. These three factors come together to make search engines more efficient and effective. People still rely a lot on search engines and now can trust in them to give them quality results. What all this means for the home business owner is that by utilizing this information to build a business website will help the business owner to get their website to the top of the search engine rankings. Copyright © Richard Lang http://www.AcquiredFreedom.comOne of the pitfalls of working at home is that there are numerous scams out there. In the traditional job market spotting something that is not a real job or that is a bit shady is easy, but in the work at home environment where everything is pretty virtual it can be difficult. That is why when searching for a work at home job a person has to be ready to weed out the scams. The following are 5 steps to use to spot a work at home scam. Each of the steps gives things to look at when considering a work at home opportunity. To use these 5 steps a person will go through each and see if the company passes or fails the step. A company needs to pass all 5 to be proven legitimate. By using all 5 steps a person should be able to avoid almost any scam out there without ending up losing money and wasting time on an opportunity that is bogus. Step 1: The company gives no details. When looking at a company and the job offer there should be details that explain who the company is, what they do and what the job is all about. Working at home is not a secret affair and it should never be. If a company doesn't give up information then it is likely a scam. Step 2: The company requires payment up front to work with them. Now, this can be a weird area because in some cases upfront payment is legitimate. Many people get caught up on this point. It is okay to pay upfront to get a sales kit in a direct sales situation. It is not okay to pay for an application fee or administrative fee. It is never okay to pay just to get information. If you are not getting actual product samples or sales tools then never pay. Step 3: The company has no products or service. If a company does not immediate let a person know what they are selling then it is likely selling nothing. A company that is selling nothing is not a place where anyone should be working because it is a scam. Step 4: The company is not known. It is rare that a work at home company will not have someone who knows about them. If the company is one that nobody has heard of and that no information can be found on then it is likely a scam. A real company will have buzz about it. People will be talking about them. Step 5: Lastly, a person should always follow their gut instincts. If a business deal doesn't feel right then it is likely not. A person should never go with a company or work at home position if they do not feel very good about it. These 5 steps are the key to weeding out work at home scams. They can help a person to avoid falling for scams that can be quite costly. Many people who end up involved with a scam end up writing off the whole work at home experience. That is a shame because there really are a lot of good work at home companies out there. Copyright © Richard Lang http://www.AcquiredFreedom.comWhen starting a work at home job it can be difficult in the beginning to make the transition between working outside the home and working at home. They really are two different worlds. It is not only something that the worker must get used to, but also their family and friends have to get used to it. When starting a work at home job a person has to let everyone know what is going on. They should clearly set boundaries. They will need to let people know when they are working and should not be bothered. Additionally, it can help to dedicate a space just for working. This space should not be around distractions or interruptions. It is very important that everyone understands that work is going on and distractions are not okay. This can be hard to do, but by explaining to family and friends about the job can help. A person should tell them what they are doing, what type of work they will be doing and who they work for. They can share details or whatever makes them comfortable. The idea is to let people know this is real and it is serious. It is challenging because friends and family would not barge into your place of work outside the home, but they see no problem with that when you work at home. That is why setting boundaries is so important. Staying focused can be another problem. If you are having issues with boundaries then staying focused can be even harder. However, staying focused can also be a problem when you lack drive and discipline. Being at home there are far more distractions then when working outside the home. The dishes in the sink or the laundry can be enough to ruin your productivity. A person really must make sure they do not let things distract them. It is important to set a specific time for working when nothing else should be done but work. Being responsible is the ultimate key to being successful at working at home. A responsible person is going to keep organized and ensure they complete work that needs to be done. Most employers are specifically going to look for a worker that shows signs of being responsible because an irresponsible person in the work at home job is a person who does not get the job done. Being responsible involves staying on track and making sure that the job is getting done. It can sometimes be difficult in the work at home environment when a person is so used to being led and told what to do in an outside job. Working at home is so different from working outside the home. It helps to get advice about making that transition. It can be hard in the beginning to get used to working at home, but making that transition is important. It has to be quick or the job could be on the line. All the hard work will pay off in the end because working at home is very beneficial. Working at home is something that most people would love to do, but that never becomes a reality. When a person gets the chance, it is a shame when they blow it because they can not make a smooth transition. Copyright © Richard Lang http://www.AcquiredFreedom.comThere is a lot of confusion for people getting into the work at home world about the difference between a legitimate home business and a scam. It is not surprising that people are thinking about it because work at home scams can be very damaging. Many people have spent a lot of money, wasted a lot of time and invested a lot into these scams that, in the end, result in no money earned. The main point of confusion comes with the top work at home tip. Almost anywhere a person goes to inquire about working at home they will see the number one tip - Never pay to work at home. This is a great piece of advice, but when it comes to a home business it is not completely true. There is a fine line between paying for a scam and paying for an opportunity. Many scammers have even caught on and have changed the way they do things to make themselves look legitimate, which causes even more problems. It used to be that if you received a product or sales kit for the investment that you could assume it is legitimate. Many times with a scam they will send something that they claim is a sales kit, so it makes it hard to see the difference between a scam and something real. So how does a person keep themselves away from a scam when they want to get into a home business? All it takes is a little knowledge about keeping yourself safe. The following are two great tips that can help anyone avoid a scam and find a legitimate home business. --- Always check out the business. The Better Business Bureau is a nice start, but a person can not always get all the information. A search online with the company's name and the word scam will turn up better results. When people get scammed they are quick to tell the world and there will be signs all over the internet to tell if a company is a scam. Additionally, if nobody has heard of the company or there is nothing that comes up online about them then that is also a good sign they are not legitimate. --- Know what the investment is for. A person should know exactly what they are getting for their investment. It should be something that is valuable and well worth the investment. For example, a person would not pay $100 as an investment for 5 brochures. That doesn't make sense and is a sign of a scam. These may seem like simple things to do, but they are one way to ensure that a company is real and not a scam. Just by doing these two simple things a person can really dodge a problem. They are simple things to do and they will not take much time. Usually scammers keep trying the same old game over and over. People will make sure that others are alerted so they can avoid the problems. That is one of the great things about home business and the online business environment - everyone looks out for everyone else. Copyright © Richard Lang http://www.AcquiredFreedom.comWorking at home is something that more and more people are starting to do. Working at home comes with many advantages over working outside the home. That is why it is much more appealing to people. What many people do not understand is that working at home requires some preparation. It is very difficult to secure a full time work at home job without being prepared. It is almost impossible to just jump into working at home and actually make it work. Preparing to work at home is something that a person has to do so that they are ready for the demands and the responsibilities that come with working at home. One of the first things a person needs to do to prepare to work at home is getting their home office set up. Most work at home jobs are going to require a few basic pieces of equipment. A person will need a home office with a computer, internet access and a telephone with a dedicated line. By having this basic set up a person is making themselves much more appealing to potential employers. Additionally, a home office makes working easier. It is also a good way to ensure that everyone in the home knows when working hours are and when not to bother the at home worker. Another thing a person needs to do to get prepared to work at home is to develop a plan for searching for a work at home job. Finding a work at home job is something that take time and effort. The job is not just going to fall into your lap. Therefore it is important for a person to do some research into work at home jobs so they can find good sources of information on available jobs. It is smart to have a few different sources to go to where work at home job leads can be found. Having a plan will also help ensure that scams are avoided because a good search plan begins with networking. Finally, preparing to work at home means preparing for the work at home mindset. Working at home needs to be looked at as a serious job, just as a job outside the home. It is going to require a quiet environment and focus. A person will need to ensure that their friends and family understand their working hours so they are not disturbed. They should also put together a work schedule. Staying on task can be very difficult in the work at home environment, so working at home requires a person to be able to stay on task and meet deadlines. Getting prepared to work at home is an important part of working at home. Many people just jump into the work at home world and they often end up frustrated and unable to understand why they are having a hard time finding a good work at home job. Being prepared is the best way to get on the road to work at home success. Copyright © Richard Lang http://www.AcquiredFreedom.comThere is no doubt that you can make money online since there is such a plethora of opportunities on the internet that allow you to do so. One such way to make money is through the affiliate marketing business, which is full of many opportunities and has also been hailed as the job of the future. If you don't know where to start, there are a lot of free resources you can take advantage of that will get you on your way to being able to make your money without having to go into an office every single day. Below you will find three steps that can help you make money and they have been known to earn those who follow them over $200 every single day. The idea is to use these steps as much as possible so that you don't have to actively work ever again but spend about 2-3 hours of your day doing something you'll enjoy. Step one Most affiliate programs have free registration, so you can more or less register with any affiliate program. Once you register, you want to check out the products they are selling, which is the first challenge you are going to encounter. When choosing a product to sell, you don't want to choose a product from a common category. The reason for this is so that you can sell a product that not many others are selling. If you're going to sell something that everyone else is selling, then you are decreasing your chances of prospects coming to you. After your product is chosen, you want to create an affiliate link. Chances are, the company you've signed up with will be able to guide you through this process. This is very important because this link is what is going to make you the money. Step two This is the point in which you want to list your product and there are definitely plenty of places to list it. The first place to list is on classified ad sites where you can write short 4-5 line ads regarding your product with the inclusion of your link. You definitely want to be honest about the product so that you can build a level of trust with potential buyers. You can also list your product on ad listing sites that may require a small fee, but these sites tend to be very helpful in that they can get you increased exposure. Sometimes on the free sites you are lost in the mix of the many free ads. Basically, you want to place as many ads as possible throughout the internet in the form of classifieds, Google ads, and even a website. The more exposure you give yourself, the more likely you are going to achieve higher search engine results. Step three This is the part where you get to wait for the money to start rolling in. It does take some time for the visitors and customers to start coming, but while you are waiting you can repeat the process for another product to increase your income potential. The best thing to do is to promote around 10 products from various categories. Some people do just 10 and then others do 100. It is entirely up to you. Once the ads are up you have a lifetime of income potential. Basically, your income is on auto-pilot. Through following these steps you are seriously increasing your income potential with affiliate programs. Some feel that affiliate programs don't work, but it is all about doing it the right way. These steps will show you the right way toward financial success. Copyright © Richard Lang http://www.AcquiredFreedom.comWith more and more people trying to work less, spend more time with their families, and trying to be their own boss, the home business industry has sky rocketed. More and more people are working from home, doing their work while still spending time with their families. Home business ideas appeal to people because the idea represents freedom. No more having to show up at work by 8, or having to deal with a cranky boss, or spending hours of time trapped in traffic wasting gas. A home business offers freedom to do what you want, how you want. What are some home business ideas? There are literally thousands of businesses that someone can do from home. The real question is, which one is right for you? Some of the easiest home businesses to start are ones that take little start-up investments. Copyright © Richard Lang http://www.AcquiredFreedom.comThere are many occupations that can be done as an Internet home business. Internet business has become very popular not only with the stay-at-home parents, but also for serious business tycoons. This is largely because the Internet has become such a large part of most people's daily lives. Nearly everyone visits the Internet at least once a day, whether to check e-mail, or to visit a favorite website, or to do business. Therefore, an Internet business at home has a good chance of being highly successful if done properly. What are some businesses that can be done on the Internet? The answer is pretty much anything. Some of the more common things that are done as an Internet home business are: blog writing and other freelance writing, taking Internet surveys, Internet marketing, and many others. Doing an Internet search for internet home businesses brings up thousands of possibilities. It is important to remember that many of the businesses listed on the Internet are probably scams. There are certain things to look for that will ensure the business that you pick is legitimate. First, look and see if the business has a better business bureau ranking. A lot of times this is the only indicator you need to research. Second, visit scam sites that are devoted to finding out Internet scams and keeping others from falling into them. Lastly look for certain key words that scammers try to use. If a site requests a lot of money for an "informational" packet, it is likely that they are a scam. Sites with a money back guarantee are likely to be legitimate. The most important thing to remember when running your Internet home business is proper marketing techniques. A business can only be as successful as its marketing plan. Some things to remember when planning your marketing plan are: know what you need to market, and how to do it. First of all, finding exactly what to market is important. Sometimes it is hard to decide what exactly to advertise for. Finding common keywords to use is not all that difficult. Try to word your ads in a way that is easy to find and understand. Short, clear phrases are best. Next it is important to know where to advertise. Putting your website on a common search page is a must. Most sites offer ad plans with differing levels of effectiveness depending on the amount of money placed into the account. Another important thing to think about is how much advertising is worth to your Internet home business. If your business is only brining in a little money, then spending a lot on advertising is foolish. However, an initial investment can increase your cash flow beyond what less advertising can do. It's a delicate balance. Starting an Internet business from home is both easy and hard. They are usually easy to start, but harder to maintain. However, compared to most other businesses, the risk involved is negligible. An Internet home business can be a great way to earn extra money, or even replace your current income. Try one out today! Copyright © Richard Lang http://www.AcquiredFreedom.comThere is a lot of information about how to build a good business website out there. There are a lot of tips and tricks on how to build a website without needing a programmer or hiring a professional. All of these technical tips and little pieces of advice often overlook the big picture and end up making the home business owner micromanage the small details. While this is nice and will actually be good for the business it is not the only advice a person needs to hear in order to build a good business website. There are three key points to building a good business website. These three points can easily be lost in the technical aspect of building a website. They are very important, though, to the user. When building a website keeping the user in mind is important, especially when building a business website where the user is key to success. The three points are as follows: Point #1 Make it easy to use. A website should be easy to use. A visitor should be able to navigate the site without hassle. This means they do not need to be bombarded with pop up ads or have to search for anything. Everything needs to be right there for them and they should be able to easily see how shopping and checking out works. Point #2 It should be informative. Online users are now used to websites that are informative and actually offer them something. Most people will simply leave a website if they can not get information from it. People are spoiled, but that doesn’t matter. A website needs a section with a blog or articles that allow the user to get useful information. Point #3 It should be clear and simple. This goes along with being easy to use. A website should not be cluttered or difficult to figure out. People are not going to work to get to anything on a website. If they can not figure it out then they will leave. Menus should be clear and every aspect of the shopping experience should be clear. In order to ensure a website meets these three points a business owner should try it out before going live. They should go through the website and make sure it is not confusing or there is too much on any page. It is also a good idea to put up a survey that allows visitors to say what they do and do not like about the site. Making sure these three points are covered will really help to make a website a success. It can be a big boost for a home business, as well. People want a good experience and a good experience includes a website that is easy to use, informative and clear. This is all something that can be worked into the final steps of building a website. Once the technical things are handled the focus can shift to making it user friendly and making it a website that people are going to want to visit. Copyright © Richard Lang http://www.AcquiredFreedom.comWorking at home can present many opportunities, but it can also come with unique problems. When a person works at home they have to learn to deal with adversity. Unexpected things can often interfere with the ability to work at home and it is important that a person is prepared to handle the unexpected things that may come their way. Working at home usually involves using the internet. There may come a time when a person can not get access to the internet for one reason or another at their home. This can cause big problems when it comes to working and keeping up with deadlines and work requirements. In a case where internet access may be interrupted a person should seek out an alternative place to access the internet, so that, at the very least, they can inform their employer as to their situation. A couple ideas are using a friend’s computer or going to the public library and using the computer there. Another situation that may often interfere with working at home is an illness. Should a person become seriously ill where they will be unable to work it is of the utmost importance that the employer be informed. In order to ensure that the employer will be informed, the person should have there employers contact information clearly written out so that someone else can contact the employer in the case of an emergency. Having this information is very important because it may not be possible for the person to make contact with their employer themselves and so they have to rely on someone else to do it. During certain times of the year weather can become a huge obstacle in working at home. Adverse weather can cause electrical outages or even displacement from the home. In cases such as these, a person needs a plan on how to inform the employer of their situation. This could include having a family member contact the employer or even sending something via postal mail, depending on the extremeness of the situation. It is important to always have some type of back up plan. Just because a person works at home does not mean they are off the hook from having to be responsible about meeting deadlines and showing up when they should be at work. If anything, it is something that is even harder to deal with in the work at home environment. Understanding the things that could happen can save a person from a lot of trouble with employers. Adversity is something that a person will surely confront when working at home. Employers are usually very understanding when it comes to emergencies and problems that their workers may have. All it takes is having a plan to let the employer know what is going on. Without a plan a person could face losing their work at home job. Employers want someone who is reliable and who will keep them informed no matter what may be going on. So, having something happen is not the end of the world, but handling it right is extremely important. Copyright © Richard Lang http://www.AcquiredFreedom.comOne of the most important tools when working at home is a computer. A computer is the main component in how a person gets their work done and communicates with their employer, who is likely miles away. Having a working computer is important, but just as important is having a computer that meets certain standards. In most work at home situations, it is through a computer that a person will find home employment, communicate with their employer and get job details. Without a working computer it can be next to impossible to get a work at home job. Many employers even require specific computer information when a person applies for the position just to ensure they are prepared. A person who is working at home is going to need a reliable computer that has the software programs that employers will most often need them to have. Also the computer should have other components that are likely to be needed to work at home. For many people computers can be confusing. It is important for a person to understand the basics of a computer. This will allow them to understand the things that they need in a computer so they can find a good work at home computer job. The following outlines some of the specifics about what a person needs in a computer to use for working at home: To begin with a person should have a personal computer, not a lap top, as their primary work computer. Personal computers have more abilities and are often more reliable then lap tops. Many employers will specify that the computer used to perform the job duties is a personal computer. Having a laptop as well, though, can be a good idea. This will give a person more portability and allow them to work even when away from home. The computer should also be running Windows, not Mac. In some cases a Mac will work just fine, but many times when employers have software their employees must install, it is only compatible with Windows. The version of Windows should be a newer version, preferably XP, which is the most commonly used platform. It should also have the basic Window programs like Word and Excel. These are commonly used programs and a person will often receive information in these types of files from employers. Without the right programs a person will not be able to open the files. The computer should also have the ability to play audio and video. In some cases the work to be done will require special audio programs that allow the audio to be stopped and started easily. In any case a simply audio program should be fine. The computer should also have a reasonable amount of free memory space. This will allow for files to be saved and for any new programs to be installed that may be needed for the job. Overall, the computer to be used for working at home should be as updated as possible. It should have updated software and all programs should be in good working order. The computer should be free of any viruses or other major problems. Having a good computer is the first step to qualifying for a work at home job. It is something that can not be overlooked and should be taken seriously. Copyright © Richard Lang http://www.AcquiredFreedom.comHome is where the heart is and home is where people go to escape from the stresses of their usual lives. Many times people think that they would much rather be at work from home all day and not be forced up into a regular job. While this is a brilliant opportunity in theory, the practice of such things is very often different indeed. The fact is that people who are free of the limiting factors of a 9-5 or whatever other schedule you are used to are indeed very free. If you feel like you would be able to maintain the focus needed to conduct yourself in a home based business like manner and you are interested in the work at home ideas and ventures then you should make your move while you still have the leverage to do so. One of the largest reasons that people do not make the move to a home business enterprise is because of the constraints of life. Children, bills, and a variety of other issues make translating your work from home idea to something tangible a difficult conundrum indeed. However, if you are still free from some or almost free of these adult entanglements and you feel like you may like the freedom that no haggling boss goes with, then you should make your best move right away! Sorting out the best home business ideas and opportunities is as easy as identifying what it is that you are great at doing. If you thoroughly enjoy taking artsy photographs and you have a few pieces of decent equipment, then why not sell pictures? If you are a sketch artist and you feel like you could do a great service to your community by making this individual skill available to the masses, then you should do that as well. If you are a good guitar player and you want to give lessons in your house, why not do that? If you make some of the most delicious pies and cakes, you could also open up a bakery or desert service from your very own kitchen. There are tons of ideas for things to do out of your home. One of the first things you need to do is locate out if there is any room for your presence in the marketplace. Perhaps you are making your living as too generous to yourself and there are 40 other portrait photographers in the area. Don't be discouraged just yet; even if there is a number of other of the same profession in your region, you should ask yourself what makes your business different from any other? If you have some claim to fame, use some classic technology which no one else does, or you have a notorious customer list, then maybe you can squeeze yourself into this already flooded market and maybe you can set yourself apart and be very profitable. Making your mark in the world is what many of us try to do. In a way there has got to be a little part of all of us who desires to succeed at something. If you are feeling like your calling is outside of the corporate owned, cookie cutter culture many of us have assimilated to, then why not see about making your way in the world of home business ideas which are available out in the world. Copyright © Richard Lang http://www.AcquiredFreedom.comIt is unfortunate that the MLM home based business sector has taken on a lot of bad press. Every year people attempt this for a change and end up either disappointed or worse --- ripped off. The saying, one bad apple spoils the bunch, applies directly to this situation. There are and always will be in this world, scheme artists. People who will try to trick you out of your hard earned cash. However, these are the minority of a home based Multilevel marketing work from home opportunity. The vast majorities are proven and with hard work can be very lucrative. If you are considering a home based Network marketing work from home opportunity, then the first thing you need to do is ask yourself why. Are you hoping to sleep in late and work the hours you want? If so, then this isn't the route you should take. Home based MLM home business opportunities require as much hard work and commitment as any other home business. If you are looking for a challenge, then this will provide it. As stated above, there are scams and scam artists about. If you are considering the MLM route, then there are a few key things you should look for before getting involved. If your particular home based MLM work at home opportunity requires a large cash investment then there is a profitable chance it is fraudulent. Legitimate Multilevel marketing companies require very little investment. In fact, some take on all the start up costs themselves. If they are asking for large sums of cash then proceed very carefully. You need to consider the products that you will be selling. Would you buy them? If you won't, then who would? What happens if you are left with loads of unsold stock? Legitimate home based Multilevel marketing business ventures will always buy their stock back. Most will do it for at least 80 percent of what you paid. Anything less isn't worth considering. Enrollment is a key issue in home based Multilevel marketing home business ventures. Legitimate businesses do want their representatives to recruit. They also offer a share of profits if you do. However, if the emphasis is on recruiting rather than products and promotions then it could be a scam. Finally, do your research on the customers and their products. Talk to other representatives and ask them how successful they have been. Don't rely on customer testimonials. They could be made up. Even proven companies will only print the best success stories. Look at their sales policies, business plans and annual reports. Proven businesses should want to show them to you. Taking advantage of the right home based MLM work from home opportunity can be both lucrative and fun. It will be challenging, but the rewards can be tremendous. Unfortunately, there are a few that are out to get nothing but your money. By knowing the signs, however, you can prevent this from happening to you. You can also be well on your way to earning cash and having a fantastic time. Copyright © Richard Lang http://www.AcquiredFreedom.comNo matter how well you analyze and prepare yourself, risk will be involved in launching your business. The analysis you've done of your current finances, your projected personal needs, and the financial needs of your new business is ultimately only a way to gauge the amount of risk. It's up to you to choose if you're comfortable with that level of risk for new business jobs. Will starting your own work at home business put the ownership of your work from home business at risk? If so, are you willing to accept that risk? How about others in your family, are they comfortable with the risk, or will it become a source of conflict in the future? It's always better to think through and discuss these issues, finding sure everyone understands them before finding a decision. Consider, too, what you're giving up. Are you only a few years away at full pension at a well-paying job? You'd be giving up a lot to open your new enterprise today; you might be far better off exhibiting some patience and launching a retirement business once your pension kicks in. Conversely, if you're working away at a extremely hourly wage with few benefits and feel that you could replace your current job virtually anytime, then there's little reason to hesitate as long as a work from home business fits the rest of your life and personality. There is risk in everything we do, and you aren't likely to exceed your destiny without taking a few chances like new business ventures. So don't make an element of risk a convenient excuse for holding yourself back. Use common sense, and try to assess that risk realistically so that you can make sound business decisions. Once you have a clear and realistic idea of what your personal financial needs are, you next want to determine what it will take to start and operate your work from home business until it can generate the revenue to support itself. The only way to do this is to create a small business plan. But as one of the decision-creating process, it is helpful to have a ballpark opportunity of how much you need to help you evaluate whether or not a work from home business is right for you at this point in your life. Will you want to invest in any equipment to get your small business up and running? For example, if you're hoping to open a beauty salon, will you need special chairs, sinks, and other equipment? If you're opening a car body shop, will you need tools? Will your work space require significant changes, such as ventilation, improved plumbing, upgraded electricity, and dedicated parking spaces to accommodate the business? If so, estimate those costs. If you're unsure, locate out. Call equipment vendors, check trade catalogs or call in a contractor to estimate the renovations you'll want. You don't want to be surprised with significantly higher than estimated costs once you've made the leap to launching your new business enterprise. These are just a few of the things you want to take into consideration. Copyright © Richard Lang http://www.AcquiredFreedom.comWhen it comes to working at home one of the most important things you will need is internet access. The majority of work at home jobs are going to require internet access to do the work, stay in contact with employers and even find a work at home job in the first place. Having a good internet connection is of the utmost importance if a person wants to be successful in working at home. There are a few different options in internet access. The difference between them is basically in speed and reliability. The differences can be major when it comes to being able to work an at home job. It is very important that you understand the basics of each type. The general types of internet access are dial up, DSL and cable. Dial up internet is the slowest speed of internet and the least reliable. Dial up internet will occupy the telephone line, so if a job requires a person to be online and on the phone at the same time then the person will need two phone lines. Additionally, downloading with a dial up internet connection can be quite time consuming. Most work at home employers require more then a dial up internet connection due its limitations. Dial up used to be the most affordable, but there are many companies that offer great deals for high speed connections. DSL internet connection is a high speed option. It also runs through the phone lines, but allows a person to be on the phone at the same time they are on the internet. It also runs fairly quickly and downloading is faster then with dial up. DSL also reports rather good reliability with minimal down time or problems. Most work at home employers approve of a DSL internet connection. DSL is sold through phone companies and they often offer great bundled deals where you can get a good rate on both phone and internet. Cable internet is the fastest internet connection type. Cable internet works very quickly. It allows for the fastest downloads, too. Some problems with reliability have been reported with cable internet, though. If a person lives in an area where the cable service often goes out then a cable internet connection is going to be out a lot, too. Work at home employers approve of cable internet connections, though, because they offer good speed. Cable companies have started to offer a wonderful deal where you can get cable, internet and phone service in a cheap bundled package. Choosing a good internet connection is going to be largely based upon the type of work a person is planning on doing. Certain jobs may be work with a dial up connection, while other jobs need a high speed connection. You should look into the options that are available in your area. It is good to ask around and see what provider is more reliable and who can offer you the best value for your money. You will have to have internet access if you want your work at home dreams to come true. It is better to be informed then just choose a service. Understanding the service you are choosing is going to allow you to make the best choice and get the best results. Copyright © Richard Lang http://www.AcquiredFreedom.comWhen it comes to working at home there are many myths and misconceptions out there. Many times these myths and misconceptions make people decide against working at home. They also can be harmful because they lead people to believe that working at home is something that it is not. A lot of the time people believe these things without even finding out if they are true or legitimate. It is important for a person who is interested in working at home to figure out fact from fiction. The following are the top myths and misconceptions that a person may run into when looking into working at home: 1. Working at home means complete freedom. This is not completely true. While it has some truth to it, it is also a little misleading. The idea that a person is completely free when working at home does not make a lot of sense. The reason it is called working at home is because it involves work. If a person were truly free they would not have any work to do. So, working at home does give a person freedom, but at the same time it is still important to remember there is also time that must go into working. 2. Working at home works for everyone. This is completely not true. Working at home is not for everyone. It requires a lot of commitment, dedication, professionalism and organization. A person has to be able to commit to the work and get it done. Not everyone works well independently and on their own. Some people simply need direction and need someone to keep them going. For people like that working at home is not the best option. 3. Working at home is easy. This may come from the fact that working at home has many perks, but that does not mean it is easy. A person is still working and still has responsibilities. Working at home is like any other job. It is important that people understand working at home can sometimes be more demanding then working outside the home, but the payoffs are often what make it worth it. 4. There are no "real" work at home jobs. This is very wrong. Many people focus in on the scams and think that is what working at home is about. The truth is that there are many people out there working at home and making more then they ever could in a job outside the home. Many people are raising a family on their work at home job. There are many real work at home jobs, but it does take determination and work to find the good ones where the real potential is found. These four myths and misconceptions can lead to real problems for people who believe them. Working at home is a wonderful opportunity that should not be missed simply due to believing things like this. A person should find out the truth before they give up completely on working at home. Copyright © Richard Lang http://www.AcquiredFreedom.comWorking at home is no piece of cake. Most people understand that, but they do not really get why it can be so challenging. Outlined here are the five biggest challenges to working at home. These challenges will not stop a person from working at home but can cause a lot of problems and ruin any chance for making it in the work at home environment. Challenge #1 Time There is a lot of freedom when working at home and that means being able to manage time efficiently is very important. It can be easy to let time get away. It is also easy to underestimate how long a task or job will take and not allot enough time to get it done. To keep time from being a challenge a person should develop a schedule and be sure to schedule both work and free time. Challenge #2 Boundaries Many times family and friends do not take working at home seriously which can lead to problems with boundaries. It can be hard to tell someone 'I am working' and actually get them to understand and accept it. To help with boundary issues a person should set up a work at home area that is specifically for work. When in the work area no personal phones calls or interruptions should be tolerated. Challenge #3 Too much independence Working at home is about freedom, but being too independent can lead to problems. Everyone needs interaction with others. One of the perks of working outside the home is interacting with other people. When a person works at home it can be easy to withdraw into that world and forget about the outside world. The outside world is important, though. Networking is huge part of working at home success. Every person who works at home should find some type of online environment to belong to and be able to escape to during the work day just to relax. Challenge #4 Being out of the loop This kind of goes with independence. Being out of the loop means not staying informed. Working at home is about staying informed and knowing what is going on in the industry in which you are working. A person should be a part of online groups and other communities that will give them information they should know. Challenge #5 Lack of support As mentioned before, sometimes family and friends will not be supportive. It is common for them to not believe a person is really working and that they are just messing around. The way to combat this is to show them what is going on. A person should show what they do, how much money they make and make it clear that this is a real job. These five challenges are going to be an issue for almost everyone who works at home. They are challenges that can be overcome, though, so they should never lead to a person giving up on working at home. Challenges will just make a person a better worker and teach them important skills they need to survive in the work at home environment. Copyright © Richard Lang http://www.AcquiredFreedom.comNew business opportunities present themselves nearly every day and a person in desperate need of a job and income often overlook many of the warming signs that the latest business idea is a really bad one. It is recommended that people use the 24-hour rule before jumping into a business proposal, even with people you might know, including friends and relatives. The first sign of a really bad business idea will be a rather lengthy sales pitch that never really says anything. Before clicking on the sign up now button at the bottom of the 20th page, think back about what you just read. In order to make money from an online business, you have to sell some type of product or service. Read the sales pitch again, and if you cannot figure out what it is you are being asked to sell, close the page and move on. Even if there are specific products or services you will be promoting, consider who would want them, the price at which you will be selling them and are they real. There is little question that information is big on the internet and many people are lining up with cash in hand to buy information. However, most will want information that will help them in some aspect of their life. Selling a book distributed only online advising people how to make money online does not have much of a following, even those books with the phrase "...For Dummies" in the title are an invitation to send money for something that common sense should make obvious. Another hint that a proposal is a bad idea is the amount of money you will need to spend up front to become part of a professional organization. Franchising has been around almost forever, and there is a valid reason for companies to charge to become a qualified distributor for their company. They have a hefty investment in their operational game plan as well as the internet infrastructure for which investments in new distributors help offset. However, if the investment seems too high, you will want to research how much you can expect to make and how long it will take to earn your investment back before you start earning a profit. Buying into the secrets of internet riches or learning how to crack the code of making money online are a couple of the more common approaches used by purveyors of really bad business ideas. These pitches will usually be accompanied by pictures of fancy house and cars, possibly even boats at a dock at some exotic island. If the pictures were not gleaned from a travel site, they were most likely staged and the person attempting to separate you from your money sneaked into a high-end neighborhood and staged the pictures without the owner's consent. Regardless of how good the proposal may seem and how honest the individual appears to present themselves, before signing up wait at least 24 hours before paying your money. Use this time for more research to make sure you are not paying for someone else to earn money on the internet at your expense. Copyright © Richard Lang http://www.AcquiredFreedom.comMany business owners brag about their workforce, how good a job they do and how they work side-by-side with the business owner, indicating that the owner must be a great leader because every time they walk into the shop everyone is hard at work. However, the sign of a good leader is not how well everyone works when they are on the floor. Rather, the sign of a good leader is how well their people function when they are not around. Ethic has often been defined as doing the right thing, even when no one is looking and one of the signs of a good leader is when their employees are doing the right thing, even when the leader is not around and there is no threat of them showing up unexpectedly. Their people understand what the expectations are and what they must do to meet those expectations. Knowing the consequences also helps, but it is more important for the employees to want to do a good job because it will be appreciated, than knowing doing a lousy job will get them fired. A good business leader sets the example for all of their people and anyone performing any type of tasks for them. Whether they are employees or others in a volunteer organization, most people appreciate having someone they can go to for the times they need help, but also someone who trains them how to perform a specific function and then leaves them alone and let them do what they were trained to do. Getting a group of employees to perform when they are not around is one of the best examples of a good leader. Managing by intimidation does not work, at least not for very long and most managers using that technique will quickly be replaced, especially after all of the workers protest and walk off the job. For the business owner, this technique will have them spending more time hiring replacement workers than actually teaching anyone. To many business owners, they honestly believe it will take more time to train someone to do a job that it would take them to do it themselves. They have all, at one time or another, commented that they do not have the time to teach someone, and that it is faster to just do it. While that may be true in a short-sighted kind of way, but taking the time to share their knowledge and then letting someone else do the work, it frees up their time for them to do other things. If there is any secret to being a good business leader it would be not to simply assign jobs and expect them to be done. At the beginning of a project, they should gather everyone together and form a plan to complete the project. Specific steps with specific timelines to gauge progress should be established. Once the plan has been finalized, the leader walks away and lets the group get it done. If they need help, he is there but if they are part of the planning process they have a vested interest in seeing it completed on time.
